Oscar-nominated actress Scarlett Johansson has starred in a number of impressive films, but it sounds as though her latest role was unexpectedly intense.

When asked about her part in the upcoming film, “The Batman: Part II,” Johansson said “it was a tough role, in a lot of ways.”

“I don’t know, it gave me a lot of existential angst for some reason,” she said in a Nov. 4 "Entertainment Tonight" interview alongside actor Adam Driver, during which they were promoting their upcoming film, "Paper Tiger."

“It was very hard to figure out. I don’t know why," she added.

The 41-year-old New York native felt that the challenge could have been caused by a number of things, saying that she wasn’t sure “whether it was just the role, where I’m in my life, or what’s going on, but it was just like, hard to crack it.”

Johansson’s exact role in the film—which was confirmed to have been filmed in Glasgow, Scotland as well as Liverpool, England by Glasgow World—is yet to be revealed.

It’s not the first difficult work scenario the A-lister has dealt with while filming abroad.

In 2024, the Daily Mail reported that Johansson opted to stay in a pricey luxury suite at Claridge’s hotel in London while filming “Jurassic World.”

The penthouse suite, which was estimated to be more than $80,000 a night, was her preference over a home she was apparently originally planning to stay in in the north London suburb of Hampstead.

A Daily Mail source said that when Johansson realized “there was no liveried security doorman like you might get in Manhattan,” she switched up her plans for safety.

The insider also explained that she was traveling with “her nanny and children,” which is why she turned down the home.

Johansson has two children—a 12-year-old daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, and a 5-year-old son, Cosmo Jost.

However, her primary residence does have a full-time doorman. Johansson and her husband, “Saturday Night Live” cast member Colin Jost, 44, snapped up a sprawling $13 million Manhattan penthouse in March 2025.

The transaction was quite a deal for the famous couple. According to the Wall Street Journal, they scored the triplex for less than half its original 2018 asking price of $27.5 million.

The 6,000-square-foot residence boasts six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, five terraces, and eight balconies, and is located within a lavish 18-story Rosario Candela-designed building from the 1930s.

The former owners, Craig and Deborah Cogut, had purchased the impressive home for $13 million in 2006. After initially listing it in 2018, it was removed and put back on the market a handful of times before eventually finding new buyers.

There are plenty of desirable features in the prewar abode, including a living room equipped with a wood-burning fireplace and six sets of floor-to-ceiling french doors with Juliet balconies.

An oak-paneled library features stunning views of Midtown and Central Park.

A galley-kitchen furnished with black granite countertops and white subway tile includes all the features a home chef could need, such as not one, but two Subzero refrigerators, according to 6sqft. A breakfast room is accessible by pocket doors made of bronze and glass.

The second level hosts four of the penthouse’s bedrooms, which each have their own private bathroom and outdoor spaces.

The third floor is entirely dedicated to the primary suite, which also has its own dedicated terrace. A fireplace keeps the space cozy, while a dressing room elevates the suite.

The dedicated bathroom is truly spa-inspired, with a marble-clad bath, a soaking tub, and a steam shower.
